“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! I will be teaching Reading/Language Arts and/or Math to your child. I am extremely excited about the new school year and learn all about your child!
The curriculum will be adjusted to meet the needs of your child to ensure success. In our classroom, we strive to differentiate instruction based on each individual learners needs. We use direct instruction programs in reading, language arts, and math in which students have multiple opportunities to practice skills each day. Please access the "Curriculum" page for more information. In reading, students are expected to read 20 minutes a night using a book of their pleasure. They may also use the website Raz-Kids and log into my classroom and complete their reading online. The language arts program is a direct instruction program and teaches the writing process. The skills are taught in isolation (or in simple form that provides students with lots of practice) and then funneled into more complex applications. The writing assignments incorporate the new skills taught in each lesson. In math, we will be learning multiplication, division, word problems, fractions, decimals, and more! Online programs recommended for student practice can be accessed through the "Homework" page.
